MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS presents ATLANTA MANDOLIN ORCHESTRA

 The Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra will perform in concert on Sunday October 4, 2026, as part of Big Canoe Chapel’s Music in the Mountain’s 2026-2027 Concert Series. The recital is at 4 pm at Big Canoe Chapel, 226 Wolfscratch Village Circle, Jasper GA.

AMO has been promoting the possibilities of acoustic music performed with the family of mandolin instruments since 1994. The concert will feature arrangements of American compositions from before the turn of the 20th century to early 2000’s featuring mandolins, mandolas, mandocello, guitar and bass. Their performance will include arrangements of Pre-Tin Pan Alley, Ragtime, Early Broadway, Jazz, Swing, Pop compositions and more.

The Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra is establishing its own history today under the direction of conductor, Jennifer McCarthy. Ms. McCarthy holds a degree in Instrumental Music Education from Georgia State University and a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of West Georgia. She has taught middle school band, elementary music and/or private lessons for 25 years and is currently the music specialist at Holly Springs STEM Academy.

AMO is the performing unit of the Atlanta Mandolin Society, Inc. and is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Atlanta Mandolin Society was organized to perpetuate knowledge and appreciation of music written for the mandolin and related instruments. Whether performing in performing arts concert halls, universities, churches, schools or retirement homes, the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra has a diverse repertoire that is sure to please!

Future programs of Music in the Mountains will include the Jared Cooper String Trio, November 15, 2026; the Michelle Nam Piano Trio on April 4, 2027; and the choral Georgia Festival Ensemble May 2, 2027.

Concerts of Music in the Mountains are funded by generous donations, enabling anyone to attend.
