Atlanta Area Council - Appalachian Trail District - Big Canoe, Georgia

Scouts BSA Troop 20, is part of Scouting America. We are located in the mountains of North Georgia. As our district name implies, we are just a few miles from Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. The mountains are our backyard and playground!
We’re home to Scouts from Jasper, Marble Hill, Dawsonville, Big Canoe, Bent Tree, Tate, Talking Rock, and Ball Ground. Our troop is chartered by the Big Canoe Chapel.
We are unique in that unlike most troops, we don’t conduct our meetings at a church, school or office – we hold our meetings at our Scout Hut nestled in the woods near Big Canoe.

The Mission of Scouting America (https://www.scouting.org/ ) is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
At its core, Scouting is fun with a purpose. Youth don’t join or continue in the Scouting program just for the values – they are here to have fun with their brothers in Scouting at meetings and in the great outdoors.
Now is the perfect time for 5th, 6th, and 7th graders to join. Troop 20 sponsors their scouts to attend summer camp at Camp Woodruff in the beautiful, cool mountains of North Georgia. A week filled with adventure including swimming, first-aid skills, wilderness survival, archery, rifle shooting, and whitewater rafting.
Every fun activity moves Scouts toward the Aims of Scouts BSA including character development, citizenship training, personal fitness, and leadership development. These Aims help prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives.
If you are new to Scouting and between the ages of 11 and 17 or maybe you are a Webelos new to the area and ready to cross over to Scouts BSA, then this is the perfect place for you!
