A Service of Hope and Remembrance
Wednesday, December 16th, 7:00 PM
The Service of Hope and Remembrance provides a time to cherish and celebrate memories of the past and to focus on hope for the future. Rather than being a service of sorrow, it is a service of love and encouragement.
For many, the Advent Season is, as the song says, “the most wonderful
time of the year”- a time of joy and festivity. However, for some, maybe
those who have lost loved ones or experienced some other tragedy, it can
be a time of sadness and loneliness. Some people feel isolated during
this time because the person with whom they have shared holidays in the
past is no longer present.
This is the second year of The Service of Hope and Remembrance at the Big Canoe Chapel. Please join us on December 16th.
Due to COVID safety practices, seating is limited. Please reserve your space … [Register Here]

The Story of The Peace Light
The Peace Light, first introduced to Big Canoe in 2019, will arrive once again for this year’s Christmas season. Through the efforts of Big Canoe Chapel’s Scout Troop 20, the Peace Light of Bethlehem will make its entrance at the Big Canoe Wilderness Wonderland Lights Drive Through event on December 12th from 6-8pm. The Peace Light will be incorporated in the Chapel worship services on the 3rd Sunday of Advent, December 13, with “The Message of Christmas is Peace” as the Peace Light will light the Chapel Peace Candle. The Peace Light will again be used to light the Christ Candle during Christmas Eve services.
All are invited to participate in ‘receiving’ and ‘passing’ the Peace Light. At each of the events, limited quantities of vigil candles are available for you to take the Peace Light to your homes for enjoyment through the Christmas season. You are also welcome to bring your own candles or lanterns to carry the Peace Light with you. Please contact Jeff Dodson at [email protected] or Carl Lundstrom at [email protected] if you have any questions.
For detailed information on the Peace Light, visit http://www.peacelightnorthamerica.org. For the background of the Peace Light of Bethlehem, watch the following short video.
