Big Canoe Chapel's "Time Capsule"

In the stone wall near the Bell Tower there is a plaque noting that items of historical significance regarding Big Canoe Chapel were sealed and buried there in a "Time Capsule" on November 19, 1989." Furthermore, the plaque notes that the opening of the capsule is set for 2015.

A special dedication of the Time Capsule took place on March 4, 1990.

What's in the capsule?

Just in case you can't be here when the Time Capsule is opened in 2015, here are the contents: autographed copy of Church in the Wildwood; Smoke Signals, February 1989 and August 1989; minutes of the first Board Meeting; Minutes of the Big Canoe Chapel Building Committee; Music to "Touch my Life" by Jayne Phillips; Big Canoe Chapel Membership Roll; Big Canoe Chapel By-Laws and Statement of Faith; Big Canoe Chapel Board Member List; Big Canoe Chapel Charter Member List; Booklet on Paccard Fonderie de Cloches - Bell Makers; Copy of bell description and receipt and acceptance letter; tapes of two of Dr. Broyles' sermons just prior to dedication and tape of Dedication Service of the enlarged Chapel by Dr. Broyles and Dr. Broyles' most requested sermon, the Groundbreaking Service for the enlarged Chapel by Dr. Albert Harris, a mission report by Dr. Silvia Brandalise of Brazil (she founded Centro Infantil children's hospital, which the Chapel supports), Josh Powell singing Battle Hymn of the Republic, Dr. Broyles' typical Christmas Eve Service and Vernon S. Broyles Community Center Dedication by Dr. Wayne Smith.  

Pictures in the Capsule include: Chapel as it originally looked in 1977, the original Chapel Bell, Dr. Broyles and Kathryn Romeyn, Brittany Elizabeth Johnson, Dr. Wayne Smith and President Jimmy Carter and the Soviet Delegation when they visited Big Canoe Chapel in 1985.
