The Chapel is governed by trustees who are elected by the membership at the annual meeting on the second Sunday of July. Regular and Associate members have equal voting rights. Trustees are elected for three-year terms. The Board meets at least monthly. Terms are staggered so that each July five trustees rotate off the board and five new trustees are elected. The Board of Trustees elects the officers, including the treasurer and assistant treasurer.
Board of Trustee meeting dates The Trustees meet on the third Sunday of every month following the second worship service. The meeting dates remaining in 2010 are June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19, October 17, November 21, and December 19.
In accordance with his May 3 letter to the Congregation, Board Chairman Jim Owens announced that all regular meetings in May, June, and July will be "open" to members of the Congregation under specific conditions. Those conditions are that no questions or comments will be permitted between the "audience" and the Board collectively or with respect to individual Trustees. In following this "POA Model," at the conclusion of the meeting, 20 minutes will be allotted for questions or comments to the Board by interested members of the Congregation in attendance. Thereafter, individual Trustees may be willing to talk with attendees, time permitting. Some topics will continue to be discussed in "executive session." In July incoming members of the 2010–11 Board of Trustees will review and decide on continuing the open meeting concept.
