Looking for a meaningful gift with a tie to Big Canoe? Give friends and family the gift of wisdom from Big Canoe Chapel’s founding Chaplain, Dr. Vernon Broyles, Jr., in the book, In the Cool of the Evening. Compiled from Dr. Broyles’ bulletin writings from 1977 through 1992, this daily devotional contains insights that are still relevant today. These books are sold in the Chapel office for $8.
Read these words from Dr. Broyles:
“Everyone seems to be getting ready for Christmas. Let me suggest that we spend more time in turning our hearts to hear angels’ voices. The eternal world has a message for us, a message of ‘glad tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people.’
We can do with some glad tidings. So many people seem buried in problems, theirs and those of the world. There is lots of news and most of it is bad. It is easy to view all we see with alarm. If there is to be any good news, it must come from Heaven since the world is not able to supply it. The miracle of Christmas is that personal word has come from Heaven. God has spoken and His word is good news. This good news is for the fearful and confused, the burdened and sad, the lonely and troubled. It is for a world gripped by evil.”
